Microsoft braces Xbox Live for Halo 3 server load

Its no secret that the biggest game of 2007 will probably be Microsoft's Halo 3. It has been reported Microsoft is readying their servers to carry the extra load capacity of this sure to be monster hit.

In an interview with Game Informer magazine Microsoft Game Studio's General Manager Phil Spencer was asked:

GI: So is Microsoft beefing up the servers for this(Halo 3), I’m assuming?

Spencer: Absolutely, it is not just a game thing it’s a whole system. It’s Live. Halo will be a huge hit to the Live system in a positive way. But you want to make sure that you know where your bottlenecks are and you attack those bottlenecks prior to going live with the retail version.

Do not forget that Halo 2 posted sales of 2.38 million units for the game in 24 hours clearing a record $125 Million. If this is any indication of how Halo 3 will do on day 1 Microsoft better have the Xbox Live servers putting in some serious overtime.
