Sony Blackballs Kotaku for being responsible?

Earlier today we posted a rumor story, broken by Kotaku, about a possible announcement of a new technology coming to Sony's Playstation 3. Apparently Sony was not to happy about this and has since "blackballed" Kotaku.

What does blackballing consist of?

Apparently here is how Sony defines it:

Kotaku will be asked to return their debug PS3, uninvited from all meetings scheduled with Sony at GDC, including one on blogger relations and a one-on-one with Phil Harrison, and that they would no longer have any company relations.

Whats next? Will Sony try to sue Kotaku and bankrupt the company the same way they did lik-sang.com

File this one under Sony's long list of bad news.

Rumor: Sony Set To Unveil "Playstation Home" At GDC?

Kotaku reported earlier today that Sony could potentially announce their community based answer to Xbox Live achievements and Nintendo's Miis at the upcoming Game Developers Conference (GDC).

Please keep in mind that this is a Rumor in the strictest sense of the word. Nothing official.

Anonymous sources are indicating you will be assigned an avatar and some sort of dwelling for the avatar. Your gamer "achievements" will be bestowed in the form adornments for your dwelling.

Anonymous source quote:
"Basically, you get to make an avatar for your console (like a Mii) and this avatar has a room. As you play games and accomplish certain tasks, you will receive items with which to adorn the room that are specific to the game (achievements). The kicker is that this is going to be a new requirement for every PS3 game..."

Very Interesting. So if this is true Sony will be ripping off Microsoft's Achievements and Nintendo's Miis at the same time.

A new add for EB Games clearly states that the PSP is an outdated/past handheld system and the Nintendo DS is the future of handhelds.

In this ad(shown right) there is a group of older Nintendo handles which includes the Gameboy Advanced and the original version of the Nintendo DS, in-between them both sets a Sony PSP. Above this group of handhelds there’s an up arrow pointing to several different colored Nintendo DS Lights with a caption saying Trade in the past..Play the future.

PS3 1.6 Update Details Disappoint

Due to lack of memory, "background downloads" will stop as soon as you start playing a game.

Details of the upcoming 1.6 update have been revealed, and many PS3 users aren't happy. It seems that Sony allows game developers to use all of the console's memory for their games, whereas Microsoft has intelligently reserved 50MB for system use. And this is where the problem lies. Since the PS3 uses all the system's memory for games, background downloading while a game is running is impossible. When you download the 1.6 update for your PS3, background downloads will pause while you play games
